Valentine Cheer!
One of my favorite holidays is Valentine’s Day.
People always give me a weird look when I say that but it really is! It’s not because it’s a sweetheart’s holiday but I do think that is a good reason to like it. Its because it’s a welcome reprieve from the cold, gray, and gloom that January nestled into the nooks and crannies of our existence.
January is beautiful in its own way. But it’s not very colorful.
And. We. Need. Color.
Think of it as a second Christmas with the excuse to decorate and spread happiness through baked treats atop paper plates adorned with the dramatic vividness of cherry red, pretty pink, and flirty fuchsia.
I am in love with cake platters and this year I wanted to find a cheap way to mimic the cheery visual aesthetic that real ceramic cupcake and cake platters display, except through paper plates!
The main feature of these treats were frosted cupcakes, sugar cookies, honey comb candy, and rose gold hearts but I also rounded everything out with some heart chocolates from the store.
Of course, paper lace doilies are an absolute must in the presentation!
I’m not sure why I took this picture but I think I was giving this lovely red-checkered dish towel, it’s moment of appreciation…
I ended up wrapping them in cellophane because it keeps everything in place but also just looks really pretty!
