Pastel and Gold Ombre Glitter Valentine Wreath
Sometimes I get a stupid idea inside of my head and I can’t move on with my life until I see it materialised in all of it’s materialistic glory…
For example, glitter.
Out of nowhere I had an obsession with glitter and it all started when I saw a pack of ombre pastel glitter at the Dollar Tree.
Suddenly I REALLY wanted to make a pink pastel glitter wreath and it would not leave my head until I made one.
Which was unfortunate because glitter is the devil and maybe scientists are right and maybe it should be banned??
Maybe, but not until I make this wreath for Valentine’s day and satisfy my creative bug for a while.
Remember how glitter used to get on and inside of every single nook and cranny on your body and in your house when you were little and glued it to paper? Well it still does so have lots of newspaper to rest your project on and maybe even some rubber gloves that you can swathe your hands in and protect your body from this evil and beautiful substance.
You will need: (all found for $3 at the Dollar Tree!!)
Styrofoam wreath base
glitter
Mod Podge
Foam brush
*TIP! I made this wreath two times with two different colors of glitter. Mainly because I thought I had screwed up on the first one but I ended up liking the first one better. But for a tip, spray paint the wreath form in a gold or metallic color before you start!!
I ended up doing touch ups with gold spray paint after the glitter and I like the effect.
Once you have covered the entire wreath in glitter you can now go back over it with some more Mod Podge. This really keeps MOST of the glitter in place {not all}
You would think that you would pull up all of the glitter during this step when applying Mod Podge on top but, surprisingly, it stays in place.
Once you’ve finished and you’ve let the second coat dry, there still may be some bare spots. I had some gold spray paint on hand so I spritzed that in between the bare spots and it seemed to satisfy me visually, so…
Now wrap it up in some gold tape to hang on your front door.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!
