Hi!

Welcome to my little space.

homemade recycled paper flower

Recycled paper is a great material for homemade paper flowers!

It’s thick and sturdy and gives the flower a textured and rustic finish.

I found this lovely stack of handmade, recycled paper from plants. I got it at a friend’s yard sale in my neighborhood. She had used it for invitations for her wedding but had no use for the rest of it. So there it sat in my craft supply for years until I decided to try a flower with it.

so find some:

homemade paper

crepe paper

gold or brown paper

sharp scissors

small or large paper plate (preferably in a matching color)

glue gun

(a latte)

and let’s get started!!

cut your petals into desired size and shape. (oh and don’t worry about a template, it’s super easy to cut a petal shape!)

upload.jpg

take a large marker and roll the paper around it. This will make the petal curl all the way around the paper plate that it will be attached to.

dot with glue on the bottom of one side of the slit and attach to other side so that it pulls into a petal shape.

now start gluing onto the outer edge of the paper plate (but not the rim!), overlapping the previous petal.

continue on until the plate is covered.

(not pictured) take some crepe paper or other recycled paper that is a slightly darker tone and make 4-6 inner petals.

upload.jpg

finish off by creating the inner part. take a strip of gold or brown paper and fold lengthwise, cutting several tiny slits. Then roll the fringe inwards. Glue into the middle.

tape onto a wall for baby nursery decor or onto a door for a pretty, unique springtime door wreath!
