Ada's seventh birthday party
It’s all about the details, right?
That’s what I chanted to myself as, compulsively, I uploaded 151 pictures onto this one blog post. This post wants to be Pinterest-worthy and has a couple of “eye candy” pictures that are basically just cute, pretty pictures of candy. But there are just too many pictures in this post. So be ye warned. It toes that line and edges more toward just me chronologizing (is that a word??) my child’s seventh birthday. I prettty much put my entire camera roll for that day on this blog. And now I’m glad I did because every picture I go back and look at cements that moment even more clear in my own little book of memories with my kids.
Every little smile. Every look of excitement on these tiny people’s faces. They kept telling me at the birthday party, “Ada’s mom, this is the best birthday party I’ve ever been to!!” And that, my dear readers, is one percent worth all of the trouble and exhaustion. If kids can appreciate and actually see the details in a birthday party then maybe we can teach them to see the beauty of the details of life. Or maybe, really, its that they are teaching us.
Is it just me or is iridescent completely soothing? Its like your eye tries to pull out one specific color but instead it equally pulls out a very lovely, subtle, watered-down silvery rainbow.
Here’s my cute Italian soda barista!
Here’s my really cute grandma! She is 85 and looks amazing!
My brothers who can’t quite smile. But they are good at glaring.
My brother’s beautiful girlfriend, Gracee. She’s an amazing cook!
This was the first project we did and was the biggest hit! It was such an easy and fast alternative to face painting. I just had a bottle of water and a rag and pressed it on each kid’s face for 30 seconds. They loved picking out a face and it was something that they could enjoy even after the party. I even got a cute mirror from the dollar store for their “big reveal”! They all squealed with excitement when they each got to see their face! Some of the tattoos didn’t go on quite straight but I just pretended I knew what I was doing (I didn’t) and they didn’t even notice! Tattoo Facepaints: 10/10 Would recommend!
These cost about $10 to make 30 of them. I found a small bag of white-painted wood snowflakes at a craft store for cheap awhile back. Then I bought a package of wooden dowels in the cake section at Walmart and shredded up some tulle and sticker sheets from the dollar store. This left me with about thirty wand’s worth of supplies. I still have plenty left for another party or project!
These girls were way more into this project than I thought they would be!
For the kid’s grab bags I kept it simple but they turned out quite elegant! I used tiny plastic truffle boxes and added in a small handful of crystal acrylic gems and giant pastel, shimmery gumballs. They loved them!
