Halloween decorating

I decided to decorate a little early for Halloween this year. It's September and I feel a little premature but maybe I'm right on time?? I always wonder because I'm usually a little late to the decorating party. Like those tole paint crafts that ladies get so excited about? The ones that include square wood pumpkins for Halloween or in big wooden letters that say SPOOKY? Usually these tole paint crafts can be found on a rustic-painted table next to a dish of candy and a Scentsy warmer full of cloying apple cinnamon wax cubes. Well… those probably won't be found in my house. I'm just not that kind of girl! Not that there's anything wrong with tole paints but I always think, where in the world am I going to store these decorations for the other 11 months that I'm not using them?? Rhetorical question and (spoiler alert)-- I'm not!

I'm kind of minimalist, well for almost everything, but that includes Halloween decorations. I have a cute giant black and orange spider and be gets to hang out on the stovepipe next to my shrouded little skulls and skull garland.

I have my pretty little spider nest (that I saved from last year) on the wall that sits just below my lovely black and gold--eek--bats!! I love these little bats! I also made these in a little tutorial from last year except this year I decided to spritz them with gold on one side and black on the other. I love how they look like they're crawling up the wall… and I'm so glad I saved them! I thought I was being silly for doing so since I could run to the Dollar Store and get new ones but be aware- Dollar Store, I love you but you are not consistent!! Don't trust the dollar store. If your cheapo decorations fit inside your tote then hold onto them for next year, just in case!

This year I stopped in at my favorite thrift shop and gleefully found this big black cat and witch's broom! I don't know why but I positively love him! And this broom was quite the find too! It's actually a very well made sturdy little broom. So much in fact that I may find a special place to keep it all year…

And last but not my least is my door hanger! I bought this sugar skull (I heart sugar skulls) from the dollar store years ago. This year I decided to shroud it as well (white shrouds from the dollar store, of course!!) and I love how it turned out!

These are my decorations and now I'm excitedly moving onto Halloween cookies because those need to happen all throughout October and not just the end, yes?
