Handmade silk peonies

You can easily make gorgeous and completely unique handmade flowers with just a few cheap materials.

Decide on the color scheme that you will be working with. The color of your material doesn’t even have to be exact. The faux flowers can be very adaptable.

You will need:

1/2 yard polyester lining (depending on your project size)

Sharp scissors

hot glue/gun

Heat source such as a candle or gas stove

Lay out your material flat so that it’s width-wise.

Cut about 3 inches from the end.

Cut the 3” strip into squares so that they’re about 3” X 3”.

Prepare your heat source.

Begin by lightly brushing the edge of the square about six inches away from the flame. Careful, it get’s hot! I’ve definitely singed my fingernails a few times!

After you have one side melted, let it cool for a couple of seconds then repeat on all four sides. You can also *very lightly hold the middle of the petal directly over the flame to give it a rippled effect.

Next, take your glue gun and very lightly dot the middle of the first petal, directly in the middle.

Then add your next petal, slightly off center from your first.

Repeat about four or five times.

Finally finish it off with a beautiful pearl or button!
