Simple Storage Update
Isn't this wrapping paper exciting?? Well now it can be useful for more than just Christmas presents!
During the holidays my local hardware store will usually pull out a huge box full of totally funky, totally unique wrapping paper and it is part of my own tradition to go and stock up. I try not to go crazy but I have a hard time leaving with at least 8 to 10 tubes. BUT. I really do put it to good use! Funny thing is that I rarely use it to actually wrap presents. Instead I use it around my house because it's too pretty not too look at if daily!
I snagged these storage boxes from Home Depot awhile back. They are made of extra thick cardboard and they honestly are the best form of organization and storage that I have in my home. I have some crafting supplies that I keep above my kitchen cupboards (so my kids can't get into them). But they are kinda plain-Jane, so we're fixing that today!
First you need some good, thick and clear packaging tape. Then you simply start the paper under the box and measure it the top of the box and cut as straight as possible and tape it to the long side. Then fold the edges where the handles are. No need for any fancy origami, just get it as straight as you can and tape it!
Fold in on both sides where the handles are.
Then do the exact same thing on the other side of the box.
And done! Now that you have some pretty, fancy wrapping paper it kind of doesn't matter that it's not perfect!
I especially love these boxes because they are the width of legal paper so you really have a ton of options for what and how much you can hold so everything is neatly contained...
The boxes kind of blend in with the decor when they're in some fancy paper!
I also use these same exact boxes (with different wrapping paper) for our bookcases. Or what I like to call our "office". This book case holds:
bills
office supplies
kid's craft supplies
laptop
If you like our style of organization over here then you may like to know that there's even a his and her's box that contains each of our own pile of crap. They are held in cute simple fabric boxes from Walmart and we each have our own. That way I don't have to yell at my husband when he leaves his keys, receipts, random tools etc. all over the counter. And I don't have to be a hypocrite when I do the same thing.
Organization in it's simplest form!
