cardboard Christmas stars

Cardboard is always sooo understated in its value in the family home, right? You buy your child an expensive toy in a cheap, cardboard box and they’re 80% likely to take more interest in the box itself.

Kind of the same thing with this homemade Christmas decoration that ended up being my favorite decoration that I’ve made in my house so far.

It started when I was looking for a thicker material to make these fabulous stars. We’ve been making lots of Amazon purchases lately and, thus, have tons of cardboard in the shed.

And as it turns out, cardboard makes the pretties and most understated stars. They are very whimsical, which is probably why I like them so much.

They don’t look polished or fancy and yet with spritz of gold spray paint and some baker’s twine to hang on, they make your windows and Christmas trees come to life!!

I used some metal gold stars that I already had in my house. But for the smaller stars I actually lightly traced the shape of my paper stars from my paper star tutorial.

It’s pretty basic, self-explanatory and customizable, depending on your favorite Christmas color… Or whatever cans of half-used spray paint you have in your shed, if you’re a spray paint hoarder like me!
