Paper Christmas Chains

Every year, pproximately 40 days before Christmas my kid will start asking me about 3.5 times throughout the day every day, when Christmas is.

Is it tomorrow? Is it next week? Is it today??

So this year we made a Christmas chain so that I can tell him to see how many “days” are left on the chain so that he can tell how many days are actually left before Christmas.

For anyone who remembers making these in second grade, they’re pretty cute, really. It’s like a simplified, dumbed-down version of an advent calendar. And {surprise!} sorry but there’s no candy and no toys in this. Just some sense of satisfaction for each chain torn off in the morning and NO more questions about when Christmas is, because believe me buddy, I’m counting the days too.

For a fun little spin on this I used some glitter pens and actually wrote the numbers too which prevents me having to count every single day how many chains are actually left.

Also, I hot glued them together with my glue gun since it saves me about three hours of waiting for Elmer’s glue to dry…

You can hang them from your ceiling or drape them on your tree or wherever your creative heart desires!
