DIY Owl Halloween baby costume

Today I dug out this cute old thing from my Halloween box.

It fit Leif when he was a 13 months old and now it fits Ada at 13 months old too. Ish. Little big maybe. She just looks like an even fatter owl, yes?

I have no tutorial but the costume is pretty straightforward to catch the gist.

I simply cut out a bunch of feathers from a colorful felt combo pack. Then I found an old fleece gray sweater. I lined the "feathers" up in rows and sewed, yes SEWED, those puppies on (I can't even fathom having that kind of time now). Definitely opt for just gluing them on with hot glue if you prefer.

For the hat I just found a simple beanie. I could not find a baby beanie  so I just used adult size. Cut eye shapes and a nose out of felt and I hand-sewed them on. Which is worth the extra time since it gives a ton of character.

This is one of my favorite handmade costumes since it's so warm and appropriate for babies and toddlers during this chilly time of year when you're out and about with them.

Also it's unisex so it looks just as adorable on girls as it does boys.

Enjoy!!
